Jop year

7. Attacks

It is most probably not noticed ... but Michael is one year older. Meanwhile I have already experience with birthdays abroad and it is always a bit sad that not everyone here. To me, this lack is to try to soften a little.

You know by now that I am a bit of a sarcastic nature teasing me. Already two weeks ago I ordered a dive computer for Michael who was lying all this time in the office. At the same time with Michael, I pretended I really had no idea what I was giving him. I continued this until last night. At the last moment stopped by the supermarket to get some wrapping paper to buy. There was a large metal box with Michael favorite cookies. Which I brought home and arrived just as if I did this because I had the gift box it could not hide. Michael was so happy, wanted no other gift and loved it so much that I had some ontho9uden his favorite cookies were (it's really a sweetheart!).

This morning I obviously made a nice bed ontibjtje on Sat while the package with the dive computer. He had gone berserk. The thing called 'ZOOP "and has enough technology to make Michael's interested.

We just returned from diving (ZOOP had them). Yesterday I have somewhere between a cake ordered, what's a birthday without cake. Dorothy was kind enough to pick him up and the candles on it. After we had everything cleaned up and put candles on it, I had to walk in the cake. The whole dive sang along and it was really a delicious chocolate cake.

Tonight we are all eating ... and then party at Lotus. Hopefully Michael writes something about it.

Doing things different

Because we're both busy with the training we do not constantly the same. For example, Michael yesterday and today while I assisted more 'fun'dives have made and' skill circuits "have done.

Yesterday was wonderful, great. There were four DMT's to diving. The first dive I was gebuddy't in January We did a drop off (either swim underwater to where the boat at a later time). With this drop, or heard a beautiful underwater cave. Last time Michael is not afraid but I still looked at me and seemed like a good idea. Beautiful, the fish seemed to sleep, it was not dark because light from all sides crawled through cracks. Serene, the divine light and just plain fun.

Since January before his air and I had gone with him gebuddy't, I had him up while Ggloria and Misha dived further. You can imagine that it Neit fun if you can continue, but that's how it works with buddies. Anyway ... in itself is nice.

The second dive buddy I was with Gloria. After Jan and Misha went up we could still do a bit of a girl diving. Thanks so cool and funny. At one point we see divers with something meezwemmen. As an eagle ray swam. In the middle of the water, beautiful to see. We followed him back five minutes and really enjoyed that.

Today we all demonstrations as a DM you should be gone through. You get a figure (1-5) and can thus complete. On a skill after I removed it all. It's quite difficult for underwater everything to do. Slowly, the important things to think, make it smooth and that it looks like you've done it 1000 times already.

It's fun and educational enterprises, and water is always somehow benefit. It strikes me that our condition is much better. We have more energy and that's great. The last two years I could not very well tolerated alcohol. My gut is often resisted but that's all over. It's not that I lamzuip, but a drink at sunset, I certainly do not turn off.

As I type this we are in a pub to 'Die Mannschaft' to see who takes on England. time flies. For those who might otherwise be forgotten, the day after Michael's birthday. On the 29th he is 29. It is clear that there will be partying a lot here on the island and I think we do not dive the 30th.

Hop Hop Hop

5. babe or Avery

On the day we are now already 3 weeks on the island. The days have been a blur and slowly stringing together slowly. Last night was our favorite Divemaster Avery left. It was a very nice girl and we have it today missed the boat.

If you're DMT work with you in principle, but in addition, you also learned a lot. One example is that you help other customers by the bag or pack their stuff installed on the boat. In addition, you assist in training. So yesterday I helped the first open water practice session. Thanks so enjoy working with people to go for the first time in a long time under water, and the exercises they participate. Since yesterday we have a new instructor, her name is Kristine and Flemish. Or, I learn to dive with a soft g.

Yesterday afternoon we all DMT's a skill circuit'gedaan. In addition, practice your underwater exercises how other people can explain. All the exercises that you learned so two weeks ago ehbt must now learn to demonstrate. Right now we are at the dive DMT 5 emt's, Gloria (27) and is almost ready, Misha (19), which is just two weeks longer working, Michael, and I .... January ...

John loves the minds churning. Be the first to fall by his age just outside the boat (he was late 60) also disturb us as DMT's immensely to his excuses why things fail. It's always the fault of another. There are other bad events, but internet is not the place to elaborate on this. Or, the rest has become a close group, but he is excluded. Now, he remains one week and will return later to finish DMT. Thus, it is too bad because it goes away.

This morning we have made a funduik with Ed where we were looking for seahorses who agree. These seahorses do not swim but really depend more on the bottom and are black, either, very good looking. We were lucky because we have found one. Miraculously, I was the one who spotted him. In any case, a dive to remember.

This afternoon we have one of the fitness tests done. 800 meters swimming with fins, mask and snorkel. It went super well, but later we heard that we should not have to use our arms. So we were still well within the time we still get the highest score. It is now half past two and we are already ashore. theory should also be done this afternoon is a session with equipment on the program.

If it all fails I put a map of Koh Tao on the website, it is somewhat clearer about how it looks here. The island is max 3 km from north to south and 1.5 kilometers wide.

Blub blub blubberdeblub

It is quiet on this side of the ocean. Especially since so much under water and because it's also kind of boring to mention every fart.
Yesterday I completed my Rescue Diver course and am starting tomorrow Divemaster Trainee "or DMT. From that moment I presented to customers and staff, even though I am still learning. Unfortunately there was not enough time yesterday to rescue his finish (had something to do with the fact that it took me a bit longer) but he is also morning briefing for DMT.

The closure of the Rescue was a 'final scenario. It is intended that a bottle on the bottom is 'hung'. The instructor comes up and says: I lost my buddy. Depending on the information you will need to pick a search pattern and search with compass and buddy to the bottle. I was just unfortunately drifted vodn the bottle and not so fast.
If you've found the bottle the spot occupied by an unconscious diver underwater. That diver should you raise to the surface, rescue breathing while swimming to the boat. Fortunately, they themselves climbed to boot. Because there was not enough time (the boat was already full) so we ventilation ashore done.
Wort then told me that the person has a heart and for other ailments, and you adequaast respond. Fortunately it all right!
Furthermore, we have explained how we should administer oxygen on the boat, and we were allowed to inhale a little.

Our house suits well, yesterday we invited some people dive today the email. We have a fridge and a kettle so everyone can dirnken a treat. Finally, we again "hitting woman" played with a very bad bottle of cheap booze. It quickly became much nicer but was anyone really tipsy 9:30 and done. Still, nice to look weeer to function as a hostess and people become spoiled.

The duikshcool is very nice. Tonight there is a "snorkel'test. When a DMT is ready (and dive master), a final test with a snorkel filled with alcohol. To breathe so that you rleegdrinken. Depending on how good you were as DMT, the snorkeling is filled with tasty drinks and other stuff.
First we will eat and then to the Lotus to Avery a lot to test. Avery is about a couple of days back to Canada and we are so har to miss. A cheerful enthusiastic and competent. Super nice and even all night partying heefft they still merry.

Today we had a day off, get some rest. Of course I again studied the theory is super fun! Duys celebrations tonight and tomorrow enjoy underwater.

"Dive from hell"

6. Sea

Yesterday we have a lot of lives, but that was actually child's play compared with the good deeds we have done today. Our second day of the Rescue Diver course was dominated by the 'real thing'. This morning, first in shallow water a few unconscious divers drag to the beach. It was a hassle and traipsing. As divers we (Gloria and Misha were volunteers) mouth-to-mouth respiration, we had them ourselves and get rid of their diving equipment. Then if they like potato sacks on our backs hung along the beach. It's here on the island without exception warm, so you can imagine us all this fiddling quite a sweat broke out.

For a few days by diving instructor Ed whispered about 'dive from hell', the epitome of misery under water. Or at least, so it was presented. In reality, mostly great fun. The five of us went out on a 'very ordinary' dive. All the rigging on the boat there was speculation on what is loose and could go wrong. Once underwater, we got the full low, flooded masks, panic, drifting games, a nitrogen drunken diver trying to resuscitate fish, underwater fight, lost weight belts, do so on. Fortunately, we were always on time and we were all suffering expertly simulated remedy. We have passed the test in short, of all places in poor visibility in troubled waters!

The Dutch enclave that was named today Impian Divers course for yet another challenge: the Netherlands, Denmark. Insofar as there is among staff and students enthusiasm was (surprisingly many divers do not like football) everyone went to the "Safety Stop Pub 'in comfort and safety in the diving competition. The undersigned is not a big oranjefan and therefore came only after a quarter in the second half of the increase cluppie. There was subdued cheering and appropriately enjoyed all of this in the pleasure of many ... water! Because divers are responsible people.

For the next day, relax on the program. To our dive log the required 20 dives to be completed tomorrow, we 'um sonst' to one of the favorite dive spots to double deep dive. That promises a lot, "oh and ah". Back to what to do for the fish and coral bleaching puts the boat finally you with a reef for some underwater cleaning. There is unfortunately quite the necessary waste between the underwater flora and that is good for man nor beast. So away with it. Tomorrow is two "Dives from Heaven" and "Dive to do well."

Dive master, dive master?

Again two days since we have posted and it has now also changed everything. Koh Tao is beautiful and we really want yet not leave. There is not much to deoen on the island, the only thing we can really do is go diving with the Dive Master (Dive Master) course to do. The dive school was very nice, we find it both fun diving and Michael wanted somewhere during the trip one more time to work, work you do in the Netherlands because it paid too little, not good for your career, etc. If we Divemaster training are complete we can work directly with the dive. Then we are authorized to certified divers (So at least PADI Open Water) underwater to lead.

The course lasts a minimum of 3 weeks and can last for 8 weeks, so it was quite a choice. In addition, the course will cost a small fortune. We would not stay away any longer (we say now IIG) so we decided not to go to Australia. That part of the journey is one of the most expensive pieces.

So we fly directly from Asia to New Zealand (sometime late September). Furthermore, we play with the idea of going to Bali in September because my mother there on vacation. For now, we first have to see if that works. We fly almost over ...

Yesterday we made the decision because it is slow and crowded on the island (high season is coming), the matter as quickly as possible to find more permanent housing. Through the grapevine we now have over a 5000 baht (about 128 euros) two rooms. One bedroom with bathroom and a room for '(tiled) with a desk and a table and' pice de resistance a FRIDGE!
We have no cooking facilities, no hot showers, no room for a hammock but it is badly located, cheap and Thai concepts (most live in huts instead of houses here really) quite luxurious. It is wider than the wooden house where we were.

Because it is slightly further away we have a moped around so we can race. Today we withdrew and now it feels like we're sort of permanently here. Nice to own groceries to prepare a delicious breakfast and a kettle for a cup of coffee or tea.

Last night we first go out. With our new friends from the dive to a beach in Sairee Beach. Really enjoyable, something obviously too much to drink but danced on the water in the water at the beach. There were men who fire shows western gifts, buckets with delicious drinks and good uplifting music. Michael and I have totally sufgedanst tonight and I was sick in bed (or just sick :) ). This morning I had to look a bit earlier and my head spins at the end of the day still.

Currently we are working with the Rescue Diver course. Before you start your Divemaster Trainee must first patented rescue diver and you should be at least 20 logged dives. Currently we have 13 so to finish this first and then some free funduiken.

Requiring rescue course is really nice fillet complication, rescuing people from the water, ate wetenw to do if someone underwater panic, first aid etc. At the end of the week we can with the official start divemaster course. We're going to have so much fun.

Apart from a visumrun in July, we are still here, so if you have not had plans for the summer and it feel like a tropical island and some water activities, please do come along!

Fireworks under water

For our Advanced course, we finally made a anchtduik. Thanks so exciting in the dark of course. After a day of snorkeling and relaxing on the boat we were still hanging Neit so tired and we took great courage on the road. Together emt Ed (instructor) and Avery (DMT) on the road. The other advanced diver, dive weekends only came along. It's a White Russian or Belariaan Anton who called and from the island of freelance work.

Well, we have the water, all of two lights and then bagging it. Visibility was less than 2 meters, so much mud and it was not as much fun as we had hoped. It was hard enough for the rest to follow, but there was a moment what is so special was that I did not forget. We sat down onthe floor, pushed the lights in our suits and had moved our hands up and down quickly. It then becomes irritated and then plannkton light it up, we were literally underwater fireworks

We found Nemo!

Finally I have seen a clown :)

We started the day quite tender but still have today decided to dive.
First, we at the instructor said that we had with that cave nietzo relaxed and we wanted to do a day to relax.
For the first dive computer, which records how long and deep you dive. My ears were involved, and we looked forward to the first dive site: Chumphorn. The location where we went or 30 meters deep.

In the water just looking underwater, visibility was good looking. On down. The view was great. After just a few exercises at 30 meters. The instructor had brought bags of chips to show that the colors are anderes. At that depth, there is no red color. Very weird to see. Furthermore, we had to be careful because you lcuth at 30 meters 2x as fast as consumed at 10 meters depth.
We are quick to sit a lot higher. There were other divers in our group and countless fish. It was around us full of fish. At one point shooting fish in a certain direction ... and a Sailfish swam there (as a fish with a long snout of 2 meters long). (Http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marlijn) Super cool but we were also looking for the whale shark (whale shark). Which we have unfortunately seen. Slowly we rose up and it was wonderful. The visibility was so good and there was so much diversity. Totally awesome!

The second dive was focused on the dive computer. A location a few hundred yards away. The water and the sight: less than 5 meters. Well stay together so. Still, this is pretty cool, underneath rocks we spotted three times a blue pijlstaartvis seen.
It is true we have some time to find a clown, but the heat is veelvan the dead anemones. The anemones are living place for the clownfish, so that it is dead. These fish had even a small one, but by the depth they were green : D Unfortunately no pictures of this.

Now we're back to our house and our neighbor to chat. Tomorrow we get a day off and I on the beach. Tomorrow night is the night dive and then we'll be done with the advanced.

Since the first dive was so great we have a Saturday to do fundive Chumphorn, hopefully it remains as good visibility and the Marlin there too, or else a whale shark.

Deep and dark

It was a strange day today. Officially the beginning of our advanced course with two dives. Buoyancy and optimize Navigating insisted on the program. The dives were conducted in groups of five. We were lucky. One instructor, two DMT's (Dive Master Training). So very nice.

The first dive was with buoyancy. Buoyancy underwater is very important in diving because otherwise too much energy to swim up or down. With good buoyancy can determine the height by the breath and 'float' in the water so you can look for something quiet.

This dive was especially funny, it had some way to play games underwater. A rectangle of PVC incorporated with lead in the soil was kept. Around it we all had to do exercises. So just swim through, with your back to the bottom swim through, and almost only ademkrachte a circle revolve. Not so hard you think, but the actual implementation is still complicated and there. EHB so I tend to my back when I swim up to swim, not very convenient and time if you do not inhale (securities is 2 seconds later) you end up with your head on the floor.
Of course it all does not hurt, but you just naturally want to do well.

The last exercise was like a stick the size of a large marker in the sand was gezet.Doel was here to swim and stick your nose (just think of a huge breath device in your mouth, hard) soft to touch then your aspiration to ascend again. To show that it was not impossible for the instructor. It is ultimately successful, but not without the baton to strike.

Furthermore, we had 'float (hovering about 1 meter above the ground) and floating upside down (so your head to the bottom. It's funny because these are things that you normally do not over water.

The second dive we had to navigate using a compass. It was quite reasonable (10 strokes up and back 10, a square on your compass to navigate, etc.).
Then we go another nap and we were diving in a cave. Michael did not have a good idea once inside was still lower than expected. We had to go through a narrow opening, and if you ever turned corner d body had got you stuck. Michi8el has been quite open hadnen achieved. After wee had further navigate back (to the cave around happy).

On the surface, I realized I was totally stressed and and considerably inhad about the plague. Besides, I had an earache that is not about. Back on shore, and the logbook to the cottage. Gloria came when eating with her ear-drops. A drop and my ear did not hurt anymore, great stuff.

Us prepare for tomorrow we had a lot of reading and here we found that we actually did not feel like. The entire cave, we found both very scary and had the pleasure taken away. Half the night we decided what we should do tomorrow ... we'll see further.

Diving for Fun

11. and sail back

The website was there yesterday, why is not yet clear, but at least our apologies!

Today finally have dived without instructions and exercises. A simple dip to about 13 meters into a well-known bay Dive Master in training who led the dive.

Visibility was not great and the dive was just too deep for our camera. Because we only had one dive hebbeng Edan's wait for the people who did the second dive and we were a little snorkeling. It remains beautiful, how many times you see.

Tomorrow we start the next course, which consists of 5 dives to some things better. We choose the most convenient things, deep diving, navigation, drijffvermogen, diving with a dive computer and culminating with a night dive. Vrijdagavodn we do the night dive and then we go with our new friends (of the dive) on stage.

Tonight we were invited for a movie night at one of the instructors. Thanks so cozy and snug. The film was "The Hangover," a comedy Ameriaaknse, pretty funny. I felt meweer as a teenager in America was a movie with friends.

We are really included in the "diving family 'in this dive. The group consists of the instructor Ed (GB), dive master in training Avery (Canada) and Gloria (Switzerland). In addition, a future Dive Master and Dive Master who opleidng Micah 6 weeks to eht funduiken is: Ronald. It's quite nice to be back here to meet people and do things together without any plans or verplichitng together or you go diving or whatever. Just dive together, chatting on the boat, snorkeling, view pictures, sometimes eating and talking about the differences between countries. We entertain us well here.

I sometimes even a bit of vgerlangen to the Netherlands. Heimweh not really, but rather an awareness of what is out there. One of the goals of the trip Relaxation beside the course to reflect on what we really want when we get back. Ideas for their own businesses continue to fly through my head. Who knows ... Now at first seven months to travel further, so plenty of time! We will not really go home and we enjoy doing and just fun stuff, lucky us!
