Our hotel room has no windows. We have on our trip had been ever before, only I forgot how difficult that is. No windows in the room you have no sense of time. This morning we woke up later than we thought. On Koh Tao, I was usually around 8 o'clock to wake up naturally, but here be the clock for 10 hours before the doors open beat.
Fortunately we had no very wild plans for today. Main activity, so we asked ourselves before, a train ride would be on Penang Hill. So this morning, after a continental breakfast somewhere in the street, towards the bus station.
We were at the hotel told that we should take bus 204, but once arrived at the bus stop a man told us that the Rapid Penang bus 10 should be. He told us that the mountain train to the 800 meter summit of Penang Hill to the end of the year out of the running and the only way up is currently in a 4x4 jeep.
Does not matter. We welcome bus 10 stepped in and came after an hour (it was not far, but the bus was just long) at the Penang Botanic Gardens. There we met a bunch of really green jeeps complete with uniformed drivers. 60 ringgit for a return. That's pretty much a euro or 15, especially for a ride of 5 kilometers. But after an hour bus ride we wanted not immediately from the field to save. Top So.
The ascent was very steep, sometimes 30%. Way we saw some monkeys against those cozy on the railing were playing. At the top the view was initially somewhat foggy, but after a few minutes the clouds moved away and we got a nice view of Georgetown. Atop the hill is also not much to do. There is a Hindu temple and a mosque. Furthermore, a few restaurants closed.
After an hour or so back down. Then another hour back to bus 10 (a drive of just 2 ringgit per person, incidentally) and on the way to the Penang State Museum. Of this we read that it was beautiful and well furnished. And that was not too bad. The museum was a lot to read and see the different communities in Penang and Malaysia. Interesting and instructive.
For dinner, but back to the food court where we ate last night though. This time no sushi, but what 'Western' food. Chicken with rice, a delicious sauce for chips and for what Judica me with spaghetti. Very tasty. But tomorrow we eat Malay, really!
